Saints vs. Browns: Our staff predictions for Sunday’s game | Sports

The New Orleans Saints (2-5) have returned from Paris and had their bye week. Now they try to get back in the win column when they host the Cleveland Browns (5-3) Sunday at Caesars Superdome. Here are our staff predictions for the game.

Jeff Duncan (Season record: 3-4)

Saints 23, Browns 12: The Saints catch the Browns after the perfect time, coming off a physical loss to the Steelers and without starting quarterback Deshaun Watson. They desperately need to get back on track at the Superdome, where they’re winless in three starts. Chase Young’s strip-sack touchdown fuels a much-needed victory.

Zach Ewing (Season record: 4-3)

Saints 28, Browns 24: It’s difficult to trust anything about this Saints team, but let’s examine their advantages here: Off a bye week, getting healthier, back at home facing the Browns without their starting quarterback and coming off a physical division game. If New Orleans can’t win here, it’s going to get really ugly. But I’m guessing the Saints will get it done.

Luke Johnson (Season record: 4-3)

Saints 26, Browns 23: The Browns aren’t the pushover some had them as before the start of the season, coming into New Orleans with a 5-3 record. But I still am not convinced this Saints team is as bad as its record, especially with its last two first-rounders — left tackle Kelvin Banks and receiver Jordyn Tyson — potentially joining the offense this week. The Superdome has been anything but an advantage for the Saints recently, but I think they get it done at home this time.

Matthew Paras (Season record: 1-6)

Saints 27, Browns 17: Shedeur Sanders’ tendency to hold the ball should give the Saints’ defense plenty of chances to get home. For that alone, I’m picking the Saints. But the Browns defense has also been iffy against the run, which could get the Saints’ rushing attack finally going. If it does, that could open up New Orleans’ offense. I like the Saints here.

Rod Walker (Season record: 4-3)

Saints 24, Browns 10: The Saints have yet to win a game in the Dome this season. An extra week of rest gave them a chance to hit the reset button. Playing a Browns team with backup quarterback Shedeur Sanders should be just what the Saints need to get back on track. Expect a monster game from Chase Young and the defense.
