BATON ROUGE – While LSU baseball tangled with Samford out in Biloxi, Miss., LSU softball held down the fort on campus in Baton Rouge and defeated Belhaven and Northwest Florida State in a pair of Fall ball scrimmages.
The Tigers won their first game of the night 8-1 against Belhaven, and then followed up the effort with a 10-8 win against Northwest Florida State.
In the bottom of the sixth inning against Belhaven, LSU loaded the bases for freshman Sydnee Williams. The Phoenix, Arizona native smashed a grand slam off the scoreboard in right field to break the game open for LSU.
In the second game of the evening, Mackenzie Pickens hit a long blast of her own to give the Tigers an early lead.
LSU softball’s next exhibition matchup will be against Southern on Monday, Nov. 2 at Tiger Park.
